23 Months!

My little baby is almost 2. I can't believe how quickly the time flies. The next month is going to be a whirlwind of activity. It is going to be a lot of fun. This past month Kevin's vocabulary has just exploded. He is saying so many new words, some you can't understand, but others that are very clear. To me the funniest words are the ones that sound like cuss words. He usually says one, I stop and stare at him, and ask him to repeat it, hoping I will hear some thing that isn't a cuss word. :-) Right now I have translated what sounds like $hit to sit. Cookie cutter is actually Cookie Monster, out means oatmeal and punkin is pumpkin.

He has also learned to count up to 10. He usually trips up around 8, but sometimes he can get it. He can also identify several colors (red, blue, green, brown, yellow, black, purple and pink) He is also working on shapes, he has circle, and triangle down, but squares and rectangles throw him off.

He is also becoming a huge fan of little songs, he particularly likes the itsy bitsy spider, the wheels on the bus, 5 little monkies, and twinkle twinkle little star. If he is in a really good mood he will even "sing" with you or do the hand motions.

He is also really into Elmo. I think he has a sensor that tells him exactly where an Elmo is in a store. And I had no idea how marketed Elmo is, he really is everywhere! So for Kevin's birthday we are doing an Elmo theme, he is going to be in heaven at his party. :-) He also really likes Dora the Explorer, he has no real interest in Diego, the male version of Dora, only Dora. I think he likes Dora for her silly monkey Boots. He walks around the house saying Boots? Map. Backpack. Dory? (meaning Dora). He is also still a huge fan of the Fresh Beat Band on Nickelodean, but I have had to limit to watching one show a week. If I let him watch more, he gets really upset when we turn off the tv or try to change the channel. He will walk around the house for days saying "Go Go" which is his favorite song they sing.

The next month we are going to be pretty busy but I will do my best to update the blog with our activities and photos of our adventures.

A bad word

You have been going around all day saying the same word over and over, but I can't understand it. It really sounds like a$$.

Open Open!

I'm listening to you not take a nap, instead you are knocking on your bedroom door saying "Open!" "Open!". Really cute.

Pumpkins!

On Monday I took Kevin to the Elgin Christmas Tree farm. Kevin loved looking at the animals, checking out all the pumpkins, and especially the hay ride. We had a blast!

Loving the hayride. I was shocked that Kevin actually sat through most of it. He liked looking at the trees they are growing and at all the tractors through out the property.

They had a bunch of tractors around the property. Kevin loved to play like he was "driving".

Playing hide and seek in the maze.

Kevin found one of the few puddles on the property. He loved jumping in it, then decided to lay face first in it and pretend to swim. :-) Silly boy.

He loved crawling around all the pumpkins.

Posing with all the pumpkins.

"Decorating" his pumpkin.

Picking out his pumpkin.

Checking out one of the tractors, he looked so little next to the tire.

Picking out another pumpkin, after halloween I am going to see about making some pumpkin bread for him.

This is the one!

Hey Mom, look I can pick this one up! (And yes he did, it got 5 inches off the ground before he dropped it, thankfully it missed his feet!)
And he's off!

Kevin loved the horse, he was really sweet and let Kevin pet him.

So busy!

I'm sorry it has been a while since I have posted. We have been so busy, yet there really hasn't been anything too major going on.

Steve is recovering from the flu (not H1N1) just the regular flu. Fortunately for Kevin and I he was sick while on a business trip to Houston, so we didn't get sick. But unfortunately he was stuck in Houston. And I know I would much rather be sick at home rather than some other place.

Kevin's vocabulary has just grown in leaps and bounds in the last two weeks. He can name most animals, and some cartoon characters- Diego- Dora- Boots- Max & Ruby- and Wow Wow Wubzy. And of course he still loves his Fresh Beat Band, but we don't watch it very often. It has turned into his "crack" he still wakes up from every nap and every morning asking for it. If you give him one show he will beg the rest of the day and will melt down if he doesn't get his way. He has also fallen in love with Elmo. I swear he sees an Elmo from a one mile radius. We walk in a store and he will see an Elmo balloon, book, toy, even cookies! He's everywhere. For Kevin's birthday we are having an Elmo party, he is going to love it!

He has also begun starting the terrible two stage. He gets really upset when he doesn't get his way and just plops down on the floor. It is usually followed by screaming and crying. He really doesn't like it when I just let go of his hand, scoop him up and just leave where ever we are. But I think he is beginning to realize this tactic won't really work on me.

Kevin is also a huge fan of counting now. It began as just 1-2-3, now it is 1-2-3-4-5-6 9-10 he still hasn't grasped 7 or 8. He has also learned to actually count not just say the numbers. We have this Elmo book (his favorite) that is about counting. We read it about 15 times a day. Thankfully it hasn't gotten old yet :-)

He is also loving to dance, wear his sun glasses, and unzip everything! Including his pajamas. He also likes to dress himself. And undress himself. Usually he does the undressing in the middle of the night. I go in and find him in just his diaper. Or he will just pull his arms out the neck and have the shirt wrapped around his torso.

Next week Kevin and I are going to check out a tree farm in Elgin. They have a great pumpkin patch and a petting zoo. I'm sure we are going to have a blast. I'll try and post photos soon. :-)
