Kevin's officially a big boy!

Today started out like any normal day, until nap time. In the past Kevin has climbed out of his crib a few times. But today, he did not want a nap and kept climbing out of his crib. So I tried to put a baby gate up and at least keep him in is room. Well he climbed over that too. So after an hour and a half of a power struggle between the two of us, I relented.

We realized that Kevin would do the same thing tonight when it came to bedtime. So we made the very impromptu decision to get him a big boy bed. Steve and I divided and conquered. I moved furniture and he took down the crib and converted it to a double bed. He went and bought mattresses while I got bedding and a crib rail.

I was really nervous about how his first night would go, since we hadn't talked it up at all. So we pushed bedtime back an extra hour and put him down at 8pm. By 9:15 he finally crawled in bed and fell asleep. For the most part we didn't have too many problems. The only scary moment is when he learned he could climb over the top of the bed rail and onto his dresser and get to his little fish projector. The two are over a foot away from each other, so he had to leap frog from one to the other. So we moved the projector to another part of the room that he can't reach. He still climbed onto the dresser a little, but mainly to pull all his clean diapers down and to throw them into bed with him. Yea, I don't know what that was all about. I am very surprised that he didn't pull out any of his toys or books. He just mainly walked around his room and up and down the little step stool that steps up to the bed.

Here's hoping that everything stays as smoothly as they are now!

Here is Kevin jumping on his new bed.

Here it is with his new bedding. Unfortunately my grandfather's Snoopy/Peanuts cartoons had to come down because Kevin could now reach them.

The finished product.
