The Go Go Song
Ahhh Toddlerhood!
He is getting in all four of his canine teeth in and they are really bugging him, so he is constantly chomping on his pacifier. To help ease Kevin's pain I have learned to give him little chunks of beef jerky. He really likes gnawing on it and it seems to make his teeth feel better. So I cracked up today when I walked into the kitchen and found Kevin had grabbed the beef jerky bag off the counter and was eating a HUGE hunk. He was so proud of himself. I let him eat all of it, but not before I broke it into more manageable chunks.
And to end the evening I decided to try giving Kevin a bubble bath. In the past when we have given him one he hasn't liked it. And tonight wasn't much different. He has learned to climb out of the tub so to keep him in I had to loose his pacifier in the bubbles. That kept him still enough for me to be able to bathe him."Dipping" his pacifier.
Yumm, beef jerky!
Eeek! Bubbles!

Two weeks in photos.
For the most part Kevin will sleep in his big boy bed, but sometimes he seems to enjoy crashing on the floor. He is getting better at going down at night, but he still has a tendency to lay on the backside of his bedroom door and call for me, or just fall asleep laying on the floor. This is the first time I found him asleep on the floor, he was exhausted since he hadn't napped in 4 days and fell asleep playing.
On Wednesday's we have been going to this local gym for a kids free time. Our friends Kristi, Navi and Sani have been joining us. Kevin and Navi love sitting on the pommel horse. All the kids love this hollow rolling tube. We thought this picture was funny, Kevin was coming out front, while Navi was going in the back.
They have this little area for rock wall climbing, Kevin really enjoyed it. I was really impressed with him!
We went to a picnic thrown by the Austin Zealots, a local home brewing club. Kevin found this keg set up he liked, he loved that he could help himself to ice cubes on such a hot day.
Such a cute dirty little face eating ice cubes.
Kevin loves playing at Jungle Java, he thought it was so cool that he had to look down to see me.

If it is food, it must not be tasted.
If it is dry, it must be made wet with drool, milk, or toilet water.
If it is a carseat or stroller, it must be protested with an arched back.
If it is Mommy (or Daddy), it must be hugged.
If Mommy's carrying me, plus groceries, plus car keys, plus holding another kiddo's hand in a busy parking lot... her cell phone will ring every time!
If Mommy wants me to nap in the car, I won't. If Mommy doesn't want me to nap in the car, I will!
If we are running late, I will poop.
If mommy just changed my diaper because it was soaking wet, I will immediately poop in the brand new one.
I am a toddler!

Sleeping in your big boy bed
Thankfully you got a hang of sleeping in your bed and will now sleep in it, but you do still like to get up and lay behind your door calling for us. We have had to put a child safety knob cover on the door because you can open doors to get out if we didn't.

Kevin's officially a big boy!
We realized that Kevin would do the same thing tonight when it came to bedtime. So we made the very impromptu decision to get him a big boy bed. Steve and I divided and conquered. I moved furniture and he took down the crib and converted it to a double bed. He went and bought mattresses while I got bedding and a crib rail.
I was really nervous about how his first night would go, since we hadn't talked it up at all. So we pushed bedtime back an extra hour and put him down at 8pm. By 9:15 he finally crawled in bed and fell asleep. For the most part we didn't have too many problems. The only scary moment is when he learned he could climb over the top of the bed rail and onto his dresser and get to his little fish projector. The two are over a foot away from each other, so he had to leap frog from one to the other. So we moved the projector to another part of the room that he can't reach. He still climbed onto the dresser a little, but mainly to pull all his clean diapers down and to throw them into bed with him. Yea, I don't know what that was all about. I am very surprised that he didn't pull out any of his toys or books. He just mainly walked around his room and up and down the little step stool that steps up to the bed.
Here's hoping that everything stays as smoothly as they are now!
Here is Kevin jumping on his new bed.
Here it is with his new bedding. Unfortunately my grandfather's Snoopy/Peanuts cartoons had to come down because Kevin could now reach them.
The finished product.
