Holy Cow!

Last Friday Kevin turned 7 months old and it is crazy just how quickly he is growing. His new favorite trick is standing up while holding on to something. He just loves doing it. He loves to stand up in his crib and to see you when you walk into his room. He just lights up with this big ol' smile and then grabs on to you and won't let go. And today he stood up at the end of the chaise lounge and slowly walked down the chaise towards me. At this rate he will be cruising around the house by 8 months old! I have also taken some standing photos of him that you can find in my photo gallery.

This week I began the weaning process of getting him off his 4-5am bottle. He really isn't liking me early in the mornings. I was hoping he would be sleeping through that feeding by now, but it looks like it is going to take a little longer.

We also went to visit the doctor last week and he got weighed he now weighs 21lbs and 6oz. And every day he keeps growing. I can't believe he is 7 months old already, the time is just flying by so quickly!

Back from Paradise

We just got back from our trip to Nassau and we had a blast. We spent most of our days hanging out in the pool, but we did also go to Paradise Island to see the aquarium at Atlantis, and we visited the Ardastra Zoo.

Kevin did pretty well on his first flights. He was a little fussy from Dallas to Nassau, but that was mainly because he was tired and the seats aren't too comfortable or large enough for him to stretch out on. Not to mention he is used to sleeping in is crib and I am a little softer than his mattress. The flight home he was better.

Kevin really loved hanging out in the pool. We had a little floaty for him and he loved chilling out in it. By the end of the week he got really good at kicking and being able to go in the direction he wanted.

He really didn't care for the ocean much though. We tried to get him to sit where the waves gently lap the shore but he hated it. He would try to crawl up me and cling on tightly, after a minute he would start crying. Eventually we got him to enjoy being in the water, but he really prefered the pool. We also liked to put him on the beach and see if he would build sand castles with the other kids, but he didn't really like that either. Although he did enjoy eatting handfuls of sand. 8-)

We had a great time going to Atlantis and seeing part of the aquarium. Kevin enjoyed looking at all the fish. He liked to touch the window as if he could actually touch the fish. We also went into the Casino and Kevin and Steve played $1 on the slot machine. They lost. But we weren't playing to win, just to have fun.

At the zoo it was neat for Kevin to see all of the birds, reptiles and other animals. He really seemed to enjoy the flamingo's, Leemur's and the goats and sheep in the petting zoo. Since this is the Bahamas it isn't a big zoo, mainly one that highlights the local animals. But they are known for their marching flamingo's. It is cool to see a guy hollering commands and the birds following the commands.

I think Kevin really enjoyed his first international trip. He seemed to have a lot of fun and really enjoyed meeting all the other kids that went with us. I think we have already decided we will go back again next year.

We got a lot of pictures from the trip and over the next week we are going to be sorting through them and posting them online. I will also post a message when we get them up.

And he is up on two feet!

Today Kevin figured out how to grab a hold of a tall toy and to pull himself into a standing position. He was really unsteady once he got there, but he loved it. Once he fell back on his bottom, he looked at me with this big ol grin!

For the rest of the afternoon he kept pulling himself up on things. He really prefers to crawl up Mommy and Daddy.

6 Months Old

Kevin turned 6 months old yesterday, I can't believe he is growing up so quickly! At his doctor's appointment he weighed 20 lbs and 8 oz (90th%), 27 inches (75%). He also got 3 shots, he really didn't like that part but he was really good about it. He cried when he got them but stopped when I was able to pick him up and comfort him.

We also took him to the park yesterday and got some wonderful photos. When Steve gets some time he will post them. The pond was so pretty that when you look at the photos it almost looks like a commerical backdrop. Kevin also had some fun feeding the ducks some bread. We also saw this little duck chic, it was so cute.

Bye! ::Waving::

Kevin has learned how to wave goodbye. When Steve was leaving for work this morning, he waved goodbye to Kevin and Kevin waved back! I thought it was a fluke, so randomly I have been waving at him and saying "Hi" or "Goodbye" and he waves back. It is so cute.

More wonderful things!

Last night when I was getting Kevin's bath ready I left him playing on the floor. When I looked up to check on him he did a small army crawl towards the remote control. I was in shock, I ran into the living room and he did it again! It was so cool. He didn't get far- about 2 inches- but still! My little man is figuring out how to crawl!

This morning he is back down on the floor with a toy cell phone in front of him and I am working on getting him to army crawl to it again. I am also happy that while watching him try to crawl (he is currently pushing himself backwards instead of forwards) he dropped his pacifier and put it back in his mouth! I have been trying to get him to do this for months! Yea another milestone!

Things I never want to forget

The last two days Kevin has been incredibly funny, a few moments are ones that I don't want to ever forget.

Kevin has begun to fully realize that he has a cat. Yesterday he kept staring at Kit and began talkign to Kit to get his attention. So I called Kit over and Kevin immediately grabbed his tail. It was so funny to see Kit's face (shock) and Kevins (glee). Kit is in for a surprise when Kevin can crawl.

Another great moment was yesterday when Kevin woke up from his nap. He was just laying there being fussy until I came in. As soon as he saw me he looked at me and said "Hi". Now I don't think he really said Hi like we mean it, it was more of a noise, but it was an awesome moment.

The other moment came this morning when I was changing him. As part of our "game" when I pull off his shirt I grab his arms and wave them in the air and say "Yeaaaa!" This morning when I pulled off his shirt he just looked at me and said "Yea" I looked back at him and said Yeaaaaa! He grined and said Yea. Now I can't get him to say it again! Once again I am sure he is just making noise and these really aren't his first words, but they sure are said at great times and are just so cute.

Smiles!
